Port of Venice

The Port of Venice is the leading Mediterranean homeport for cruise ships. Because it has several passenger terminals it can diversify its offer to cater for cruise ships, ferries, fast ships sailing to the coast of Istria, yachts and mega yachts.

Available facilities

Venice's Passenger Port counts on four main facilities: Marittima, San Basilio and Santa Marta, Riva delle Zattere and Riva degli Schiavoni.
The Passenger Terminals

The Marittima area includes three terminals and a fourth terminal that has yet to be completed but is already in use.
Terminals 103, 107/108, 117 and Isonzo 1-2 are dedicated terminals for large cruise ships, while Terminal 123 specialises in ferries linking Venice to Greece.
Medium sized cruise ships, mega-yachts and fast ships berth at S. Basilio and Santa Marta.
Ships

The efficient and advanced services offered by the Port of Venice enable it to host different types of ships: cruise ships even exceeding 300 m., ferries, high-speed craft and yachts.

Cruise ships account for a large share of transiting passengers. In 2012 1,998, 960 passengers (1,739,501 on cruise ships) transited by Venice, confirming its position as one of the Mediterranean's chief homeport.

Ferries are also a major industry. Several shipping companies connect Venice to the Eastern Mediterranean year round. In 2010, Venice's strategic position was confirmed by 357.664 ferry passengers who transited by Venice.

Hydrofoils and fast ships connect the city with Istria, and indeed Venice is the ideal port to set sail to Slovene and Croatian coasts. Several daily services connect the two shores during the summer and this type of service was used in 2010 by more than 109,127 passengers.

Venice is becoming increasingly popular for yachts and mega yachts that can now moor in dedicated berths in some of the City's most panoramic areas: riva delle Zattere, riva degli Schiavoni and San Basilio. Yachting is being encouraged as testified by the services offered and the plans ongoing in this area.

Terminal Isonzo 1-2

The Terminal Isonzo is a two-story building, divided in two parts: Isonzo 1, with a surface of 8,681 sq. m., was opened in 2009, while Isonzo 2, with a surface of 8,681 sq. m., was opened in 2011. Designed for providing all passengers a smooth experience while embarking and disembarking, it counts among its amenities a 1,432 sq. m panoramic terrace allowing outgoing passengers to enjoy the timeless beauty of the Lagoon City. Easy access to the Terminal Isonzo is granted by the closeness of a short stay area available for drop off and pick up of passengers as well as by a car park, located just a few minutes walk from the facility.

St. Basilio Terminal 22

St. Basilio Terminal, a single storey ground floor facility built at the end of 80s and renovated in the 90s, provides assistance not only to small ships, but also to high speed hydrofoils and catamarans from/to Slovenian and Croatian coasts.

Terminal 103

Terminal 103 is a state of the art facility, opened in 2003. Easy access to it is granted by the closeness of a short stay area available for drop off and pick up of passengers as well as by a car park, located just a few minutes walk from the facility.

Terminal 107/108

The Terminal 107/108 is a two-story facility restored at the end of 90s. Equipped with a modern adjustable gangway and designed for easing the transit of in and outgoing passengers without compromising security and customs controls, it allows the simultaneous berthin of more than one large ship. Easy access to embarking and disembarking procedures is granted by the strategic location of the facility: the proximity with car parking areas 1, 2 and 5, the availableness of dedicated taxi ranks and areas for cruise line transfer coaches immediately outside the Arrival Hall allow for a more rational and problem free management of passenger fows. Easy access to the terminal 107/108 for passengers with reduced mobility is granted by gentle ramps, wider access pathway as well as by wheelchair lifts.

Terminal 117

The Terminal 117, a former warehouse converted into a modern cruise terminal, was opened in 2006 for facing the increasing numbers of ship calls. Divided into two separate functional areas, both on ground foor, with a 2.705 sq. m. Departures Hall and a 2.525 sq. m. Arrivals Hall, it is provided with three waiting rooms, a duty free shop, a large check-in area with high-tech security screening systems, as well as with facilities for reduced mobility passengers (PRMs). Easy access to the terminal is ensured by the proximity of the car depot area 1 and 3 as well as by the adjacency of dedicated taxi areas for drop off and pick up of passengers.

Terminal 123

The Terminal 123 is a single-storey facility opened in 1999. Easy access to it is granted by the closeness of a short stay area available for drop off and pick up of passengers as well as by a car park, located just a few minutes walk from the facility.
